Missing teeth? Ask your dentist about dental implants
If you have lost one or more of your natural teeth, you should ask your dentist about dental implants, which are the only permanent way to replace missing teeth. Here at Aura Dental in North London, our experienced dental implant team have helped many patients to replace one, some or even all of their natural teeth using implants.
What are dental implants?
Dental implants are, in essence, permanent artificial tooth roots. Your natural teeth comprise a crown you can see and a root you can’t. The implants placed by your dentist replace this root and support new teeth in the form of crowns, bridges or dentures.
How does the implant process work?
At Aura Dental in North London we offer two options for treatment with dental implants: a single implant and crown to replace one missing tooth, or an implant-secured bridge to replace several adjacent teeth.
Your dentist will see you for an implant consultation and, so long as you are suitable for implant treatment, will arrange an appointment for your implants to be placed. This involves a minor operation, which is carried out here at our North London dental practice and in most cases requires just a local anaesthetic.
After a healing period of a couple of months, your dentist will call you back into the practice to check your dental implants have integrated properly with your bone. Your replacement teeth – crowns or bridges – will be securely attached on top.
Dental implants will prevent your new teeth from becoming loose and will also help to stop the common problem of bone loss that can occur when natural teeth are lost.
With proper care and regular visits to your dentist, your implants and attached restorations will last you many years – maybe even a lifetime. To book an implant consultation at our North London practice, contact us today.
