How does it work?

First you will need to book an appointment to visit our dentist in person for a thorough comprehensive examination of your teeth and gums before you can begin treatment with Invisalign. Our dentist will make sure that your teeth are clean and healthy and that your gums are strong and free of disease. If you do have any underlying dental issues then these will be treated with our vast range of restorative dental treatments prior to beginning any teeth straightening.

Once you are ready for Invisalign you will need to undergo a specialised three-dimensional scan of your teeth and gums, which will create a digital image of your mouth that can be sent to the Invisalign technicians. They will then use your scan results to create a highly accurate image of how your teeth will look following treatment with the aligners. The technicians will then send this image back to our dentist with whom you can discuss the results and decide if you would like to go ahead with the procedure. Once you give the go-ahead, the technicians will use your scan results to create a series of clear thermoplastic aligners which will gradually push your teeth into their desired positions. These aligners are almost invisible and therefore provide a very discreet treatment option in comparison to traditional orthodontic braces. The manufacturing process ensures that they are comfortable to wear and highly accurate, producing predictable results. They need to be worn for 22 hours a day for two weeks at a time until you move onto the next aligner in the series. This will continue until you reach your desired result, which can take from between 12 weeks up to a year depending on the extent of misalignment that you begin with.
